Michael visited a few weeks ago. He took family pictures for Christmas cards and Norah's first birthday. He also snapped a few around the house. I love having a photographer in the family!

Norah at 11 months!
Norah has had a big month, hitting a few milestones prior to her first birthday!
• I'm no longer breastfeeding! After going away over Labor Day weekend for a trip with college friends, she ran out of frozen breastmilk. Tony ended up mixing her last several bags with cow milk and then moving on to pure cow milk by the time I got home. Rather than complicate things and confuse Norah, we decided to just make the move to cow's milk official.
• The move to cow's milk came at the perfect time because she sprouted her first two teeth- the two middle teeth on the bottom. Then, last week she decided to work on FOUR teeth on top. All at the same time! Amazingly, this has not seemed to have had a negative effect on her mood. The biggest change I've noticed is that she's sleeping quite a bit more. She's also had some pretty nasty diapers. It remains to be seen if this is due to the milk or the teething.
Yes, I feel really lucky that this transition has been fairly mild.
• Norah added the word "good" to her tiny vocabulary. Example: I'll give her a bite of food and ask, "is it good?" Norah then says "guuuu." (Whether she likes it or not).
• She gives kisses. Pick her up and ask for a kiss and she'll lean in often with her mouth open, sometimes with her tongue hanging out waiting for you to plant one on her. If her technique lasts, Tony and I joke that we won't need to worry about boys!

Random July pics
Not the hair Norah!
5th Anniversary
My mom flew in to visit and offered to watch the kids while Tony and I went out and stayed in downtown Denver for the night:
Happy Anniversary Tony!
4th of July
Maybe I should add pictures of our 4th of July weekend now that it's mid-August?
Grandma let Norah play with pills! 😳😁
The kids posed in front of Grandpa's statue:

After spending the Fourth in Greeley with family, we decided on our way home to pick up more stuff and head back out for an impromptu road trip. Off we went to Lake McConoughey (sp?) in Nebraska! We had our swimsuits, towels, a cooler of beverages and were excited to play in the water! About 10 minutes after we arrived and found lodging for the night, a cold front blew in and the temp dropped about 30 degrees. And it rained. No joke. It was too cold (in July!) to get in the water. We basically just slept there and looked at the enormously impressive lake. Lesson learned- we'll check the weather next time. Ha!
We left the lake and drove to Holyoke, CO where Grandma Ardis, Uncle Eric, and Aunt Karla live. We spent the night with Grandma and continued to endure the unseasonably cool weather in our shorts and tank tops. Norah stayed in jammies since that was the warmest thing we brought and Asa was lucky enough to have had a hoodie in the car.
Of course, Asa had to get real silly!

Norah at 9 and 10 months!
Norah continues to be such a sweet, easygoing baby! She's definitely developed an attachment to Mama, but does slowly warm up to others. We recently went through a phase where nobody (except immediate family) could make eye contact with her without Norah bursting into tears and wailing! Thank God she's over that (for the most part).
I'm super happy to say that she's been consistently sleeping through the night (8pm- 6:30am) for a few months. She's also in her crib! She can also be put down awake with little to no fussing! It's amazing and it really is a shame we couldn't and still haven't figured this out with Asa... ;)
Current tricks:
Waving "hi"
Saying "Mama" and "Dada"
Army crawling
Feeding herself puffs
Sitting up and getting from laying to sitting on her own
Shaking her head "no" (sort of violently)!
Scooting super fast toward the dog water bowl as soon as I'm not looking
9 month stats:
Height: 27 1/2"- 48th%
Weight: 16# 6oz- 12th%
HC: 17 1/2"- 70th%
She gained only 11oz between 6 months and 9 months. The doc suggested I start supplementing but Norah still refuses to drink from a bottle or cup. Instead, I've increased her table food intake and I'm hoping that helps.
