Asa Reading to Norah

A few nights after getting home from the hospital, I walked into our bedroom to find Asa "reading" to Norah. *Heart Melted* :)

Trip to the Park

Silly Asa

It's hard to take a fit seriously when you look like this...

Also, here's one to add to the nap shenanigans album-

Multitasking big brother- shoving a pacifier in his sister's mouth while watching cartoons while smiling for the camera.

Meeting Norah's BFF

Norah got to meet her instant BFF last weekend! Adelyn is beautiful and I was so excited to finally to get to meet her! I could tell that there was definitely friendship chemistry between these two...

...except for maybe when they both decided they were NOT excited to meet... Just a little bump in the road to becoming besties :)

Norah Update

At Norah's initial pediatrician appointment on Monday, Oct 6th, she weighed 7 lbs 1 oz which was 4 oz below her birth weight. She also had a fairly elevated jaundice level, though not high enough to warrant treatment. We had to continue to monitor her and and get blood drawn several more times- all without significant changes. At her 2 week appointment she had only gained 2 ozs and still wasn't at or above her birth weight. Also, her jaundice level was creeping up again. The dr asked to see her back in a week (today) and I'm happy to report she gained 11 ozs and is now 7 lbs 14 ozs! Also, he could tell by looking at her that we don't need to worry about jaundice anymore. This was great news- not only because she's healthy, but because I seriously hated holding her while they drew an entire vial of blood from her heel! I may have cried the first time when my hormones were wacky... :)

Looking cute today :)

Are you happy?

Asa has started asking us if we're happy multiple times a day.
"Mama, are you happy?"
"Daddy, are you happy?"
"Baby sister happy?" (When she's not crying).
He'll either ask us out of the blue, or he'll ask when he's misbehaving (to which I tell him I'd be happier if he started minding me), or he'll ask when he finally decides to do whatever I've been asking him to do (to which I respond by telling him I am now that he's listening to me).

It's really sweet. Asa continues to be such a loving and compassionate little boy and I'm so proud to be his mama.

Norah Lee Mann

Norah was born at 1:04pm on Thursday, October 2, 2014. She was 7 lbs 5 ozs and 18 3/4 in long. She's perfect! My c-section went well. I feel like I'm healing easier and more quickly than I did with Asa. I spent two nights in the hospital before heading home on Saturday afternoon. It worked out nicely as I got to celebrate my 35th birthday Sunday at home with my newly expanded family, my mom, and a visit from Tony's mom, niece, and nephews. Tony even baked his first birthday cake for me. :)

We're adjusting to life as a family of four at home and so far so good! Asa had a rough few days in the beginning- refusing to listen and not minding me or Tony, but he's doing much better now. He thinks his sister is pretty cute and has shown great patience when I'm busy tending to Norah. He pronounces 'Norah' with a latino twist- a little roll of the 'r.' It's pretty awesome. I'll need to get it on video before he corrects it.

Norah loves to sleep the mornings away, waking once for some milk before snoozing again until early afternoon. Our challenging times are around dinner time (as soon as dinner is ready and hot, she's ready to eat!), 9 pm when I'm trying to get Asa and myself to bed. She cluster feeds and I've been having to feed her continuously until around 10 or 10:30. Then, she wakes up around 1 or 2 am and does the same thing. Last night I brought her out to the living room after trying for over an hour to get her to go back to sleep. She slept like a rock in her bouncer chair on the coffee table and I got some much needed sleep on the couch. Perhaps she just needed a change of scenery???

I'll post more later, but below are Norah's newborn pictures taken by Bella Baby at the hospital. We've already filled frames throughout the house with these first images of our baby girl.
