Month One

This blog did not start off well. Asa is already 5 weeks and I'm just now finding time to write. I'm scared I've forgotten a lot already. :(

Month 1 went by quickly! Some of it- especially the first few weeks- was sort of a blur...

Asa came home on Friday, March 9th. My parents (going forward referred to as Mimi and Pok Pok) were in town to help us get settled back at home. We took our first walk around the neighborhood with Asa on Saturday (the day after getting home). I couldn't go very far or very fast as I was definitely still in some pain. However, the nurses said the more I walk and the more I push myself (without going overboard) the quicker my recovery. Looking back, I definitely have to agree. We had some family friends come by for a visit on Saturday night (David and Denise Gray). Pok Pok had to go back to Texas on Monday which was sad, but we knew we'd see him soon at Aunt Katie's wedding!

Mimi stayed until March 21st and it was wonderful! She helped so much by cleaning, cooking, and easing my mind when Asa did something unexpected (like losing his cord AND his circumcision ring way earlier than the doctor told us). It was hard to say goodbye. :(

Grandma Gail (Tony's mama) came to visit the weekend we got home. She brought Aunt Darby and cousins Nathan and Eziah.
Asa also got a visit from his Aunt Katie the following weekend. Grandma Gail was able to come back to Denver as well and brought cousins D'Jay, Baily, and Aliyah.

Tony's cousin Mandi was able to stop by the house and meet Asa. She also brought us some delicious home made enchiladas!

Asa had his 2 week check up on March 22nd. He had gained 4 1/2 oz since birth so we were relieved to hear that! It's so hard to tell if how well he's eating since we're breastfeeding him. Everything checked out just fine. He'll go back in early-mid April for a weight check and then have a full check up at 2 months.

We had friends Jen and Caleb come over with their twin 4 month old girls- Riley and Harper. Friends Dana and Adam, who are expecting their first baby girl in mid April, were also able to join us. They brought dinner and we had a great time.

Asa took his first road trip to Grandma Gail's house in Greeley on the 24th. There, he met Tony's cousin Wes, wife Aniela, and daughter Anniston. He also got to meet his great grandmother Ardis, great aunt Karla, and great uncle Eric.

I have a LOT of pictures during this first month that I'll post separately...eventually.
